Artifact Reflection

I. What is the artifact from this course?
The artifact I selected from EDL 792 was the Final project which focused on teacher isolation.

II. Why is this artifact selected?
The research involved in the final project helped cement understanding about the issues I was concerned with.

III. What learning or understanding occurred through the selected artifact?
Knowing myself as teacher helps me go into conflicts with an advantage. As I become more involved and assertive in leadership roles, my teaching will improve as I reflect on current practice and learn new techniques.

IV. In what ways (personally and/or professionally) are you different as a result of this learning or understanding?
Nothing in this particular class will change much, but the program itself through the three years has helped me gain a greater understanding and appreciation of philosophy, history, and theory in education. In school, I have applied some of the various ideas either through required work or experimentally on my own. Further, I was forced to find new sources of educational discussion such as the web logs I discussed in my final project. That alone has changed how I approach issues and has given me a more broad view of the complex issues currently being dealt with.
