Artifact Reflection

I. What is the artifact from this course?
The artifact I selected from EDL 712 is the Philosophical Compatibility Analysis.

II. Why is this artifact selected?
The paper is included because it involved a discussion with our Superintendent and involved our first sit-down meeting with him on a purely professional basis.

III. What learning or understanding occurred through the selected artifact?
I discovered that our Superintendent’s philosophy of education did not deviate from that of the teachers in our building. However, Ohio’s educational expectations are so vague as to be practically useless.

IV. In what ways (personally and/or professionally) are you different as a result of this learning or understanding?
I have come to an understanding that education is a political animal because it is an area that politicians can manipulate and wield power. Those ideals espoused by politicians are sometimes in direct opposition to those understood by professional educators.
